Nini’s White Wedding

August 26th, 2010 Nini 51 comments

Our wedding turned out even more beautifully than we expected. We had about 230 guests in attendance and it was amazing to be able to share our special day with the people who make our lives so special. Thank you so much to our maid of honor, Nha Khanh and all of my bridesmaids for making the magic happen. Without these wonderful ladies I don’t think we could have had such a perfect wedding.  I feel like  there were angles surrounding us throughout the day because everything ran so smoothly. We’re very blessed!

I changed 4 different times. The first three looks were long in white and the last one was in nude lace, which was my dancing dress.  It was a 1950’s dress I bought 3 days before the wedding at Gratitude. Thank goodness for Khanh. She helped me reconstruct the dress. The original dress has 3/4 sleeves and the length was far to long for me. Khanh shaped it for me and removed the sleeves. She’s amazing!!! Not to mention that she did most of the planning and decorations for the wedding. She even did all the bridesmaid bouquets!!!

YEYYYY!! Finally after 10 years :-)

The theme for the wedding was white. In the morning, all my bridesmaids were wearing white aodai ( the Vietnamese traditional gowns ) and they all looked amazing!! The gowns were cut perfectly and everyone looked very fresh and innocent. During the night all of them had on black lace dresses, very glam and sophisticated.

For my hair and make up, I wanted to have the full 1950’s look for night time and I wanted to have the elements of glamour reflect the style of the dress. I have light S shape on the front and red lipstick is just the pop that all of my neutral outfits needed. Nancy Uyen is the make up & hair artist and she’s the best! ( She’s the one that holding the camera on the previous photo )

My 2nd outfit of the night

Remember this portrait that I posted before? and I got a lot of questions about why I share my wedding gowns before my wedding day? In my culture it’s a tradition to have your wedding portraits before the wedding to display at the ceremony.

My maid of honor, Khanh Nguyen also known as Nha Khanh. She was there on my side the entire day and night on my big day.

That’s me in Nha Khanh Black Velvet backless gown

And of course, my wedding can’t go on  without my Ducky. He was on the cake table to guard the big bling :-) So adorable!

Dancing the night away with bestie!

That’s all for now. I’ll keep you guys posted with some more wedding photos. Stay tuned for the 2nd episode. xoxo Nini

Our Birthdays…

June 8th, 2010 Nini 33 comments

Thank you all so much for the birthday wishes! I’m deeply in love with those Fendi platform. The heels seem to be so high but they are very comfortable to walk in.
I had my birthday party on Saturday. It was wonderful to have the birthday celebration together with Nha-Khanh. Double the trouble! I’m so glad that so many of our friends were able to come out to share the special day with us.

With my fashion designer friends, Aiden Vo, Nha-Khanh, Thai Nguyen

Cheers to fashion!

Wearing our birthday’s gift! Nha-Khanh was so sweet, she knows I love big, full circle high-waisted skirts. She made me the same skirt in two different colors for my birthday. Thank you Khanh!! You are the best!

Wearing: Christopher Kane gorilla dress, AA tights, YSL pumps

I’m wearing the gorilla Christopher Kane dress that I bought a while back. I’ve listed this dress on eBay before and the dress was sold, but the transaction didn’t go through. I decided to keep it, I think it belongs in my closet! The weather was in the hundreds on Saturday. I thought the dress was going to be too hot to wear, but it is actually quiet breathable. I love it!!!

Nhã Khanh Skirt:

Wearing: Costume National nude silk blouse, Nha-Khanh skirt, Fallon necklace, Christian Louboutin python lace up.

I hope you are all doing well and are having a great week! xoxo Nini

Sex and The City 2 Premiere

Love her!!!

With Nancy and Nha-Khanh and photo by: QC

Wearing: Comme des Garcons pink skirt, Rick Owens tank, YSL booties, vintage bag and tiger belt from Vintage Martini

I went to the Sex and The City 2 private screening on Wednesday night. I  am not sure I liked it as much as the first one. I was a little disappointed with  the wardrobe but there were still tons of great dresses and a lot of amazing fashionistas eye candy. Out of all the outfits, I thought Carrie’s Dior tees with the Zac Posen skirt and shrug outfit was great and Miranda Hobbes in her black gold studded dress was stunning, she carried it off so well!

I’m wearing my pink Comme des Garcons skirt. This big skirt is such a statement piece by itself that I don’t need to think much about what to put with it. All I did was throw on my Rick Owens tank, booties and let the tiger belt tie the outfit together.

Oh, and I’m so happy to have my bangs back !!!! I hope everyone has a great weekend. Enjoy the summer! xoxo Nini
