Ranjana Khan Necklace

October 7th, 2009 Nini 34 comments

This beautiful crystal beaded Ranjana Khan necklace is one of my new purchases from Neiman Marcus. I wore the necklace with my Fendi leather skirt to the Naeem Khan and Ranjana Khan shows in NYC. I met her and her husband Naeem Khan and in person they are both artistic, humble and very kind people. To be honest with you I’m not big on jewelry but her jewelry is just beautiful. The new collection all has a beautiful touch of old world glamour and a classic Hollywood look to it.  I took some photos at the show and I hope you enjoy them. I thank each one of you sincerely for taking your time to visit my blog. xoxoxo Nini Nguyen

My Top Two

October 5th, 2009 Nini 16 comments

Hi everyone -

Thanks for all the sweet comments on my previous post. Hopefully Loc and I can get together tomorrow to work on some photos for the new entry.

Paris Fashion Week is going on right now and I’m  so excited to
see all the beautiful things that are coming out for Spring 2010.

If you have not seen them, you MUST check out the shows on style.com. So far Maison Martin Margiela and Ann D are my favorite. I feel like Margiela has never dissapointed his audience. His collections are unpredictable compared to
other designers and fashion houses. He always takes the road less traveled and the work is
always so innovative. I also love the seductively masculine silhouettes at the Ann D show. Those chains and the long
skirts are divine. I’m also really anxious to see what’s coming out for Louis Vuitton for Spring 2010 as they scheduled to show the collection on October 7th.

Rodarte Spring/Summer 2010

September 15th, 2009 Nini 40 comments

Hanh, Lucrecia and I attented the Rodarte show today. The collection
was amazing! I especially loved the details: the leather cut-outs were to die for.
We ran into so many people at the show. Rachel Zoe , Kirsten Dunst, Elijah Wood and Iris
Apfel. We had a long chat with Tommy from Jak and Jil. He’s so nice and he has such a great sense of humor!
When I saw Carine Roitfeld stepping out of the limo  my heart was truly beating at its maximum speed. As you all know she is my
muse. So sorry for the lack of updates but I have been traveling…
I hope you guys enjoy the  photos.
Hanh and I are heading to the Rodarte after-party right now.
Xoxo Nini :-)

I VOTED FOR

For Naeem Khan

At the opening of the San Francisco Opera this season, several women stood
out. But I think the one who really shone was Deepa Pakianathan. She really
took a risk with the beautiful embroidery of her floor length gown. The
draping is especially interesting because the gown is so intricate: each
bead is stitched by hand!

Right now, there is a poll to see which dress you liked the best. My
favorite is Deepa Pakianathan and I already voted from my computer and
iphone!

Current Obsession – Maison Martin Margiela

April 9th, 2009 Nini 23 comments

The Belgian fashion designer Maison Martin Margiela is turning 52 years old today. Happy Birthday to you, Mr. Margiela! Throughout his career, Martin Margiela has maintained an extremely low profile. He has never had his picture taken and instead of walking down the runway like most designers, Margiela remains backstage after his shows. I have always been a loyal and devoted fan of Margiela. In my previous post I mentioned that Hanh and I visited the Margiela store while we were in NYC. I was blown away by Margiela’s beautiful creations! I found the store to be breathtaking. It’s hard not to fall in love with a store that is filled with undeniably strange and amazingly constructed garments. Most interesting were the reconstructed garments; it is Margiela’s gift to re-envision the deconstructed garment and give it its own life. I fell in love with many things in the store including the lightweight batman cardigan, all of the diamond-shaped cuffs, the nude leggings and shoulder shrug pads. And that’s only to name a few things that begged to be taken home with me. Still, my budget only allowed me to take one thing. And, yes!!! I got a fabulous Margiela dress from runway of Spring 2009. I do not have an occasion to wear this dress yet. So I won’t be able to post the dress until May 2nd, which is when I’m attending Diffa Utopia. Please stay tuned!!!!!

Rodarte

I love every single look in the collection. Those crisscross over the knee boots are TD4. The collection inspired by architectural artist Gordon Matta-Clark, who, in the Seventies, deconstructed parts of abandoned buildings for his series of “building cuts. To me I think this collection is more wearable compared to their previous season.

Hanh and I meet the Mulleavy’s sister before at Fashion At The Park. They’re very down to earth, who’s still live at home with their parent in Los Angeles. Photos from style.com
