Sophia Kokosalaki
Sophia Kokosalaki 36 year old is a well-known Greek fashion designer with her own label based in London. A graduate of London’s Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, she was chosen to design the opening and closing ceremonial outfits for the 2004 Summer Olympic Games, which were staged in her home town of Athens.
In autumn 2006 she was appointed Creative Director of the leading Vionnet fashion house but resigned in May 2007, stating that she will solely concentrate on the development of her own label instead.
Her trademark style often features the classic Grecian draping combined with handcrafted elements, in an innovative fusion. Her specialty is soft flowing dresses, and her work with knitwear and leather has also drawn praise.
Her spring 09 collection is inspired by Ancient Egyptian. It wasn’t exactly the full Tutankhamen deal. Mostly, it was done by allusion: a strong-shouldered jacket, and a color palette that included lapis lazuli and gold. there was a richness in this collection that she hasn’t reached for before. She’s always worked with leather, but this season she upgraded, patch working burnished gold python into boleros and vests. Here are some of my favorite looks that I like to share with you guys.

Hanh and I are going to the luncheon today with a special apperance of designer Zero. I had mentioned it on my previous post. I’ll take some pictures and posted up tonight to share with you guys. Have a nice day everyone !!!! xoxo – Nini Nguyen
