Hello Paciugo

I’m not a sweet-tooth but every now and again Loc takes me out to have some ice cream. Our usual spot is Paciugo. They have fresh ice cream made every morning and my favorite flavor is mocha.  A lot of readers have emailed me to ask what kind of exercise I do to keep my body slim and fit. My answer is I don’t do as much as I would like to do. I walk a lot and I really watch what I eat to maintain my weight.

I just added two new pieces to my closet. The first is a fabulous brown vintage silk shrug. I love to add items that have a bit of drape to them to outfits like this because it gives me an elegant movement when I walk and brings a balance to the look. The second item is way more rock-and-roll: vintage Levis 501 ribbed shorts that I bought from Urban Outfitters for $28.00. I think the shorts will be a great addition to my closet. I plan to wear them with anything that is a little more conservative. I can’t wait to try a vintage boyfriend blazer with them or pair them with an over-sized sweater for fall.

Wearing: Lanvin yellow tank with bows, vintage brown silk wrap, vintage Levis 501 short, vintage bag, Marni shoes, Club Monaco lucite cuffs and Alexander McQueen clutch.

Ninitip: Prevent looking like a teenager when you wear your ripped shorts by pairing them with something stylistically opposite. I paired them with something clean and elegant to keep the shorts from making the entire outfit too grungy. Mixing high and low as well as clean and dirty is a fun way to create functional outfits! That way you can rock a chic look with  a nice elegant lift to whatever you wear.

Have a nice weekend everyone!!! Nini Nguyen

  13. June 28th, 2009 at 02:51 | #13

Do you take a spotlight with you every where you go?
    These photos are insanely gorgeous!

The draped shrug just looks so luxurious, the outfit wouldn’t be the same without it!

  14. June 28th, 2009 at 03:22 | #14

Nini, do I smell an endorsement? Every shot seems perfectly posed to represent this ice cream place. Anyhow, the unlikely pairing of denim shorts, that wrap, and the Marnis is fabulous, and the photography is lovely, as always.

  15. June 28th, 2009 at 03:41 | #15

    super nice shoes :x :X

  16. June 28th, 2009 at 04:34 | #16

you look good wearing those YSL platform pumps(boots). I hope you’ll post more photos wearing it. Nice one.

  17. June 28th, 2009 at 04:45 | #17

you really look goog in YSL platforms

  18. June 28th, 2009 at 05:30 | #18

that wrap adds a touch of luxury to the ripped shorts. really great!

  19. June 28th, 2009 at 06:29 | #19

I really like the way these Vintage shorts subtly reveal your (so sparkling) “BOMBnextDoor” side . . . AND the way your silk wrap sounds as a laid-back declination of your usual “day to day GLAMazon-esque” style !!!
ps: Ooooo YES these kind of Shorts potentially combined with a boyfriend Blazer (with a T/top OR “à même la peau”) = KILLer cocktail !!!
    Hope You’re Well too Dear.

    à Bientôt, Antoine

Wow–what a fabulous look! What’s funny is I was thinking of buying a pair of ripped denim shorts! I saw a pair at F21 but they were one inch TOO short…the ones you’re wearing are great. Will check those out. As you know I’m not usually a ripped denim gal but I decided that my look has become too conservative over the years and I need to try some more younger looks, balanced of course with something more sophisticated. You nailed it on the head here.

  21. June 28th, 2009 at 07:19 | #21

nini you should do your tips more often! i love it :) i just did the opposite though — i do look like a teenager LOL — =D

oh nini, you chose ice cream spot for photo shoot, lame as usual. why you think people interested in you eating ice cream? and those shorts would look so much better with a bootie and a tank without bows. that cape doesn’t go with the shorts either, a blazer would have been a better option. i think you need some style tip!

  23. June 28th, 2009 at 09:38 | #23

Hey Nini! I have to say I love your new haircut! The tank with the bows is so cute too. I have to go check out Urban now, I’ve been looking for some denim shorts like those.

  24. June 28th, 2009 at 09:42 | #24

The wrap is divine!was it expensive?we have few vintageshos here and they are very expensive, it doesnt make fun to go shopping!!

my god, what a an amzing look! I love everything! first of all the shoes and the denim shorts… then, this top, so cute! the bag and the scarf are the better way to complete this outfit with a chic touch! Finally, you look incredibly beautiful!
    I’m ipnotized! and speachless too!

    Nini,

The drape is an awesome touch to the short. Blazer look is very common. I love how this look is different from others, hence, nini’s style :-) .

    @angel

i love anything with bows like your lanvin tank! i also like that you balance your outfit a lot… the sweetness of the tank vs the rock-and-roll shorts, the fitted top and sorts vs the drapey and flowy wrap. perfect!
