Hey, Mickey!
Every woman needs a good “throw-it-on-and-go black dress” that they can use any time of the day. We’re all always reaching for something that would work for running errands, as a cover up after a yoga class, to meet up w/ a girlfriend for lunch or for picking up your kids up from school.
I’m wearing my Comme des Garcons Mickey dress that I absolutely love. It’s perfect for running around town to meet up with my clients but transitions seamlessly to a casual dinner. I love dresses that are easy to put on and go.
Here are my suggestions for what to look for when you are out shopping for a good little black dress:
1. Look for something that drapes well and feels effortless. The main point is that you don’t have to mess with it too much. It needs to be perfect from the second you put it on. Helmut Lang, Alexander Wang, Rick Owens and The Row all have a wonderful selection.
2. Look for something stretchy that hangs nicely on the body and doesn’t hug any areas that you aren’t comfortable with. Stay away from things that are too tight on the body because you might not always be able to wear them.
3. Look for a medium weight fabric. Sometimes the perfect little black dress is wool and can feel a little too warm. A medium weight fabric eliminates having to worry about what to wear inside.
4. Look for something that reflects your personal style, something you can wear with flats for the day and can be dressed up for evenings by switching out the accessories.
Hope everyone is doing well and thank you so much for reading my blog! xoxo NINI

Awesome dress!! Love ur recommendation!!! Your dog is so adorable!!
I love that dress except for the ear part that sticks out. A little too avant garde for me in the suburbs plus you can’t layer over it and it gets chilly in the East coast. But love your concept of throw and go black jersey dress. Can you give more examples?
OMG! I fell in love with those sunnies!
I purchased a pair of Chanel sunglasses late last month,
and I regretted for buying those after I saw yours.
Huh!
May I know what model are these sunglasses? Thanks!

Would you consider making and selling this dress sans ear stick out part like you are selling your green circle dress? I love the asymmetrical hem on the black dress and everything else. Thx!

You are so lovely! The LBD is a staple in a wonderful wardrobe. I also think a sassy red dress could do wonders as well! Check it out, I did a feature on the frocks titled LBDvsLSD http://www.montrealinfashion.com/2011/11/lbdvslsd-montreal-in-fashion-editorial.html
P.S. Luving the cropped cut, though I’m bias! You’re like my hair-twin from another hairstylist!
