Hello everyone! I hope you are all well. I want to share with you a little DIY project that I did recently. I had a great little Zara jacket that I wanted to play with and the Chanel backless jacket that Miroslava Duma wore inspired the project. I couldn’t stop thinking about how much I love the look of a tweed jacket with an open back. I took a little risk and went into my closet looking for a piece I could cut to create this look. I thought my Zara jacket would be fun to turn into a back-less number. You always can look for a vintage tweed jacket for this DIY project. Have a great day everyone!! xo Nini
Inspiration:
Step 1: Get your supplies: some pins, a ruler or tape measure and chalk or a light colored high-lighter, needle and some threads.
Step 2: Decide on how much you want to cut off. If you see yourself wearing the jacket with low waisted pants, it should cut below the waist. I wanted the jacket just above my waist for outfits with high-waisted skirts or shorts.
Step 3: Pin it. I always concentrate on making sure all the seams are even and after double checking, I cut.
Step 4: Sewing the seams. You can hand-stitch the seam back yourself or sew it with a sewing machine. You can have the option of a clean finish hem or let them distressed
I hope you are all doing well. This week has been chaotic because we’re so busy with our home improvement project. We’re in the process of redecorating the house, putting flowers in my atrium and into the back yard. I feel like I’m constantly running back and forth between Home Depot and home. But on the bright side, the project is coming together really well and I can’t wait to share photos when it is all finished.
Since I’ve been so busy, I’ve been keeping it basic in terms of outfits. I’m wearing my all time favorite black skinny jeans. I love them because they’ve got the perfect amount of stretch but also have enough structure to create a great shape. And they hold up pretty well against wear-and-tear so I can rely on them during my busy times. This is the ‘it’ jean that I suggest to all my clients. It’s just a great basic to have so I’m always stocked up with a few pairs. Enjoy your Sunday and thanks for reading my blog 🙂 xoxo Nini
While shopping for furniture I couldn’t help but make a quick stop at American Apparel. The last thing I purchased at American Apparel was a T shirt and that was years ago. Walking into the store this time around, I was pleasantly surprised by how different the selection was compared to my last visit. I was happy to find that they are improving on quality and selling more wearable items. I picked up this white poplin shirt and white high-waisted denim skirt along with some other things that I’ll share soon on the blog.
One of my beautiful clients gave me a bottle of Cornflower by Frederic Malle for my birthday and I have been using it non-stop. I’ve been getting tons of compliments about it! I’m not a perfume type of girl but I’m really enjoying this scent. It’s just very fresh. Thanks for reading and have a wonderful day! xo Nini
Hello everyone, I’ve always loved a great pair of wide legged ivory pants. I don’t wear them often because it requires a pair of statement heels or heels with significant height but I do wear them on special occasions such as a lady’s luncheon. What a sleek way to show up for a meeting or a luncheon in style!
When you show up at any meeting or lady’s luncheon the last things you could possibly need are body hugging dresses, shorts or T’s. All of those are way too casual or too revealing. I stay away from anything that’s too revealing. You want to look sophisticated and elegant.
For summer weather, a pair of classic wide legged pants with a fitted peplum top is suitable and for fall you can always top the outfit off with a structured jacket if needed. It’s a classic look but it also shows off your curves in a subtle way.
This look works well for those who have a small or large chest because the waist line of the pants will show off your curves nicely. As I mentioned, be sure to wear big heels with this look so that whatever you wear on top doesn’t make you look boxy. Heels are key for wide-leg pants so that the pants help to elongate your figure. Have a lovely day everyone! and visit NINI SHOP to find out my latest picks xo Nini
On most of the photos I had the top zipped half way up.
Get The Look:
My precious jewelry designer friend, Sue Gragg designed the nini necklace for my Birthday. It’s such a special piece.
Wore this outfit to lunch and then again to work a few times. I’m really into wearing jeans with everything right now. I love to roll them up about two small folds at the hem so that they stop just a tap above the ankle. It’s just more casual and if you wear a shoe with an ankle-strap, the rolled up pants will display the shoes better.
I live in my Madewell shirts. I bought them a size bigger so I can have the saggy boyfriend effect. Sometimes bigger shirts look better with skinny jeans. I pair it down with a pair of floral jeans from Free People. These are super comfortable. This look is really casual for days full of errands, meetings and a long to-do list. But even a casual look needs a touch of glamour so I add a dressier shoes to complete the look. Have a fantastic weekend everyone and thanks for reading 🙂 xo Nini
