BLACK STRAPLESS JUMPSUIT

July 14th, 2012 19 comments

You have no idea how happy I was when this black strapless jumpsuit arrived from ASOS. I’m so impressed with the fit and the quality. In the summer, I find myself gravitating towards pieces like this that can withstand a lot of wear-and-tear. This jumpsuit is really well made and such a great staple to have in your closet. It’s so versatile because of the color and the style. It’s a great piece for when you have an art opening, event or dinner to attend. This jumpsuit is dramatic but you could make it understated enough to wear to the office by putting any blazer or a cardigan over it. Thanks for reading everyone 🙂 xo Nini

{ NINI’S TIPS } SHIRT DRESS WITH HERMES SCARF AS BELT

July 12th, 2012 30 comments

I absolutely adore this old Sacai white tunic/dress. When I first got it, I loved it so much that I wore it all the time. I had to give it a break or risk over-wearing it so I retired it for a couple of seasons. I decided to pull it out again this summer and give it a new life by wearing it with one of my colorful Hermes scarves wrapped around the waist.

My favorite thing about collecting clothing is that when you find something that matches your personal style really well and invest in that item, you can wear it for years and years. I love being able to wear my existing pieces with new touches and I especially like to make the item seem different every time I wear it through accessories.

Try this look with your shirt-dress or over a floral dress. The scarf will give it a nice kick. Try adding a fabulous scarf over anything that you normally wear with a regular belt.

The instructions are super easy! Use a big scarf in the shape of a square. The one I have is 36″x36″. Fold it diagonally into a 5″- 6″ wide strip. Then wrap it around your waist and tie it in the back. If you have enough room then twist it in the back then bring it to the front and tie a small knot. Have fun with it! xo Nini

STRETCHY TUBE SKIRT + BASIC TEE

July 10th, 2012 13 comments

I’m a huge fan of pencil skirts in all different types of materials and textures. Sometimes when you find an item that fits your figure well, you end up with a small collection of that item. Since I love to wear pencil skirts, I’m always looking for a new way to rock my collection of stretchy tube skirts in a sexy way with a modern twist.

Tube skirts can be a little risky. It is hard to wear a skirt that runs the risk of showing every bump on your lower body that you are trying to hide. When you are out shopping make sure to look for thick fabric and make sure that the skirt is not see through.

Tube skirts are wonderful because they’re comfortable for moving around on an busy day, easy to pack so they’re great for traveling and they’re just plain sexy for showing off curves.

Instead of dressing it up, I like to dress it down with simple tee’s. The outfit is always one pair of fabulous wedges or a pair of over-the-top pumps away from a look you could wear out to dinner. If you want to wear it back to the office just add a blazer and lower heels. Have fun dressing up 😉 xo Nini

Building Blocks

July 8th, 2012 30 comments

Wearing bright colors for summer is just an easy way to lift your mood. One of the most famous trends this summer is color blocking. It has been around for awhile but this season, it is everywhere. Color blocking can be a little challenging in terms of color coordinating but it’s a trend that everyone should try at least once.
Florals jeans and neon jeans are great to wear right now and the safest way to wear them is put on a clean white tops that suits your body shape well. The reason I say white tops is that it will be a central item to calm and balance out all the bright colors while helping elongate your body. In the summer I find this especially useful for color blocking. For shoes, you always can wear any neon thong sandals for a casual day or a pair of neon pumps for a dressier occasion. And don’t forget the final touch to complete the color blocking trend is a pair of statement earrings or a chunky necklace. I wore this look out to work and to my meeting this week. Have a creative Sunday ;-)) xoxo Nini

Zebra Jumpsuit

July 6th, 2012 17 comments

Who would think zebra print from head to toe could look this chic? This is the second jumpsuit that I have ever owned. When I first saw this jumpsuit at Zara I was a little hesitant to buy it. I was not sure if it would be too much print on the body and I was afraid that it would be a one-time-wear kind of item. Luckily I was with my friend and a second opinion is always helpful when you are hesitant about buying something. I tried it on at home and ended up loving it! The thing I love most about this jumpsuit that it elongates the body. Jumpsuits are in and out of season constantly. This loud print is a wonderful addition to a summer wardrobe. This jumpsuit was a few inches too long on me and instead of taking it to my tailor to hem it up I decides to take it up from the straps myself. It saved me a trip to my tailor and $20.00.
Since the jumpsuit is already so busy, I go really clean on the jewlery and accessories. I also love to shop for vintage jumpsuits. Jumpsuits are a great way to stand out at any event. But I do keep in mind that the loud prints are a seasonal thing and I always try not to spend too much money on it. Thanks for reading everyone and have a lovely day! xo Nini
