Beauty File: Nini’s Style

February 14th, 2011 7 comments

I’ve gotten many emails from Nini’s Style readers asking me about the details of my beauty routine and I thought it would be a great idea to share all my favorite beauty products with you. I used to be really into make-up and skin care. I’ve tried every product out there and these are the products that I use every single day. Just like clothing, some high-end products are the best while other are from the drug store but work magically.

Facewash: I have normal to oily skin, so I do have a few break-outs here and there. My dermatologist recommend that I use Cetaphil face wash as the hands down best product as far as face wash is concerned. It really keeps my skin calm and I can’t survive without it.

Foundation: MAC Studio Fix Powder Foundation is the best powder foundation I have ever tried. I have tried Serge Lutens, La Prairie, Chanel, and many more and I had not found a perfect one that I was satisfied with until this product. The Mac Studio Fix gives me enough coverage for going out at night without looking like I have tons of make up on. It’s flawless and I’m always ready for the camera. For daily basics, I don’t wear much make up but I do use Mac Mineral Foundation and it’s perfect to put on and go. I use my foundation brush to put it on.

Blush: I mix Nars & Mac together.

Eyeliner: I use both liner and liquid. My liquid liner is made by Revlon and I use it for my upper lid. It’s the BEST! For my lower lid I use Mac Kohl pencil. It’s perfect for smokey eyes.

Perfume: I don’t wear it very much but Clair de Musc by Serge Lutens is what I wear when I go out for dinner or to a party.

Eye Cream: For night time I use Revive and day time I use Neutrogena Ageless Intensives eye cream and I’m really happy with it. It’s $13.99 and it works just like a $150 eye cream. I strongly recommend it to you all!

I love collecting lipsticks. The one that I have been using lately is Mac’s Morange lipstick and Christian Dior’s ultra gloss glow #236

My basic eyeshadow that I wear almost everyday by Mac. The light color is Wedge and the brown shade is Brun. They’re perfect eyebrow and smokey eyes.

Shades of Gray

February 11th, 2011 21 comments

Finally we have some sun and nice weather! Such a relief after all the snow and ice. Although the cold weather was beautiful, it seems that spring isn’t far away. Today I’m wearing an Anne Valerie Hash tunic/dress from V.O.D Boutique.  I wore the same dress before without a belt and with long leather gloves.  I love the shade of this dress and how versatile it is.

I hope everyone has been keeping warm! Xoxo Nini

Queen of Style: 5″ & Up

February 3rd, 2011 13 comments

It has been a long time that I found a blog that I really fell head-over-heels in love with. Sandra from “5 inch and up” is seriously talented when it comes to putting the best outfit together. It takes a lot for me to like a blog and she is really great with the way she mixes high and low. Her photos are taken quite nicely as well.

I love the ways she mixes all different patterns and colors together without looking mis-matched. And her blond wavy hair is the perfect accessory. Her blog has me wishing that I lived in London so we could be friends. She always looks so effortless without trying at all. This girl has real style!

I’m crazy about these white Margiela shoes. The same one that I own in green python.

It’s Lunar New Year today. It’s the year of Rabbit.  Wishing the New Year brings all of you bright hopes, new success and many new reasons to smile. xoxo Nini Nguyen

Pampered Sole

February 3rd, 2011 10 comments

What a great experience that I had at Pampered Sole today.  I was in need to get a mani/pedi for the Super Bowl parties and a friend of mine introduced Pampered Sole and I have to say it’s the best experience that I had in awhile.   The owner Thao & Nghiem are so gentle and nice.  The place is so chic & clean and they have a beautiful polish selections from Lippman, Chanel, YSL, Butter, Nars, and Dior. It was the hardest decision to pick out the color  that I wanted since they have a zillions of colors. I was going back & forth between Lipmann’s ” Before He Cheat” and Chanel’s ” Blue Satin”.  I ended going with Blue Satin for my toes. One cool thing about this place is  that they have a personalize storage box for the tools just for you to keep it sanitized. This is my new favorite salon!

I had Shellac Nails on my figures. It’s goes on like regular polish but harden like gel. It will last up to 14 days without losing shine or shimmery. I love it!!!
