Nini’s White Wedding

August 26th, 2010 61 comments

Our wedding turned out even more beautifully than we expected. We had about 230 guests in attendance and it was amazing to be able to share our special day with the people who make our lives so special. Thank you so much to our maid of honor, Khanh and all of my bridesmaids for making the magic happen. Without these wonderful ladies I don’t think we could have had such a perfect wedding.  I feel like  there were angles surrounding us throughout the day because everything ran so smoothly. We’re very blessed!

I changed 4 different times. The first three looks were long in white and the last one was in nude lace, which was my dancing dress.  It was a 1950’s dress I bought 3 days before the wedding at Gratitude. Thank goodness for Khanh. She helped me reconstruct the dress. The original dress has 3/4 sleeves and the length was far to long for me. Khanh shaped it for me and removed the sleeves. She’s amazing!!! Not to mention that she did most of the planning and decorations for the wedding. She even did all the bridesmaid bouquets!!!

YEYYYY!! Finally after 10 years 🙂

The theme for the wedding was white. In the morning, all my bridesmaids were wearing white aodai ( the Vietnamese traditional gowns ) and they all looked amazing!! The gowns were cut perfectly and everyone looked very fresh and innocent. During the night all of them had on black lace dresses, very glam and sophisticated.

For my hair and make up, I wanted to have the full 1950’s look for night time and I wanted to have the elements of glamour reflect the style of the dress. I have light S shape on the front and red lipstick is just the pop that all of my neutral outfits needed. Nancy Uyen is the make up & hair artist and she’s the best! Remember this portrait that I posted before? and I got a lot of questions about why I share my wedding gowns before my wedding day? In my culture it’s a tradition to have your wedding portraits before the wedding to display at the ceremony.

My maid of honor, Khanh Nguyen also known as Nha Khanh. She was there on my side the entire day and night on my big day.

And of course, my wedding can’t go on  without my Ducky. He was on the cake table to guard the big bling 🙂 So adorable!

Nini’s Bachelorette Night

August 3rd, 2010 38 comments

I had the best bridesmaids to plan for the bachorette party ever!   I couldn’t ask more for a better maid of honor, Khanh!!!!.  She did such a fantastic job of planning and hosting the party from A-Z.  The party turn out much  better than I expected.  Thanks everyone that took time and celebrate it with me.  I enjoyed watching all the games you guys planned/played,  it was a lot of fun!

Khanh was so detailed oriented that she included my blog’s name and photos as part of the decor.

Wearing Comme des Garcons black transparent dress with bloomers and tank inside.

With Aiden, he was so busy packing to go back to NYC but he was there for my party. I love him!

With friends, the theme of the party was black and white glamor. I thought it was fun for everyone to wear white and I wear black. It’s more me 🙂

Nina, is the person on the far left. She’s going to be one of my bridesmaids. She’s super sweet!

Bling bling!

Khanh was my stylist. She puts all kind of accessories on me.

Delicious food all prepared by Khanh. She’s a super woman.

We played all different crazy games. One of them is the bananas eating game. It’s SO FUNNN.

With PV and Susie

Susie surprised me with a naughty yummy cake. Thanks darling!!

Our wedding is 18 days away. I’m super excited and can’t wait for it to be here soon. Have a fabulous day everyone!! xoxo Nini

2 Yards Of Silk = Nini’s Style Dress

July 26th, 2010 28 comments

This is something that I thrown up at the very last minute to meet up with our friends for dinner and cocktails. I tried many things but was not happy with the look that I tried to achieve.

I started playing with this piece of nude silk fabrics that I bought for one of my projects. I draped it on my body and I really like how it turned out. It was perfect! I want something drapery, elegant, and has an edge and this piece was perfect for the occasion.

I got tons of compliments, people were asking who made my dress and I told them that all it takes:

*2 yards of nice silk fabrics

*Drape it on your body asymmetrical, and tie a knot on the back

*Secure it with a nice belt.

If you have any questions feel free to ask:-D Have a fabulous day everyone!! XoxoNini

Wearing it with: Rick Owens tank, vintage necklace and alligator clutch, Current/Elliot black jeans, Fendi Pony hair booties.

With Alex Tran and Khanh
