I'm super excited to share this post with all of you as an easy alternative to busy or seasonal holiday looks. Sometimes, dressing for the holidays is hard simply because seasonal dressing is hard: you have to stay away from certain patterns or colors or embrace them and make them work. I was getting ready to go to a holiday party with Loc and my clients at a cozy uptown Italian restaurant when I came up with this little trick. I've been going non-stop with all the holiday events for the past few weeks and I needed a new look. It ended up being something anyone could pull off for holiday parties or dinners.
I know many of us have beautiful scarves. I'm sometimes guilty of buying scarves with vivid prints that end up sitting in the drawer and don't get much wear. Do you have a scarf or two that you don't wear too often or have no idea what to do with? Now is the perfect time to pull them out! Give your scarves a new life for the holiday and give your holiday looks a twist. I will show you how. This short DIY project is super easy, fun and you will instantly have something new to wear without spending any money. Got to love that!!! I use the scarves as a layering piece underneath my jacket to have a pop of color. If you don't have a long jacket like this you can layer it with a long black soft cardigan and jeans. Here is how to do it: You need 2 scarves in a square shape. Use one scarf for the front of your top and one in the back. The back piece will hold the weight of the front piece and will work to keep the front scarf in balance. The one I use measures 36"x36" In the photos I'm using scarf #1 for front & #2 for back. First fold #2 scarf into a triangle. The reason why I have it folded up is because I don't want it to peep out from underneath my jacket. Then, knot one of the corners of scarf #1 & #2 together. Put it over your shoulder and then tie the second corners of the two scarves together. It is that simple: you have the one shoulder top. Leave the back as is. Put on your jacket or cardigan and a fabulous necklace or earrings and you are set to go!!! Is it too loose? Belt it at the waist. Have fun with the patterns and colors! Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas!! xoxo NINI

Hi everyone- I hope everyone is doing well and getting ready for Christmas. Make your list and check it twice! Thank you so much for all the kind compliments on Leann Rimes in the green circle dress.
It has been so cold in the last few days in Dallas! We are all trying to stay warm. Do you remember this Alexander Wang sweater that I wore in a previous post with the vintage Chanel skirt? The look was much dressier. Here I'm wearing the sweater again but this time I styled it more casually by putting it on with a t-shirt and skinny jeans. I love to keep my closet full of items that I'm able to wear again and again and to mix and match with different things I already own. There is no point in spending money on garments that you only can wear once. The advice that I give to all my clients is when adding something new to your closet, always make sure you can style it 4 or 5 different ways by switching out the accessories. I always recommend items that can function well during the day and transition into a night outfit as well. That way you will wear it more than one time. Here is my example of how I styled the Alexander Wang sweater when I added it to my closet. Look 1: pair it back with a pencil skirt Look 2: wear casually with skinny jeans and t-shirts Look 3: mix silhouettes and pair with wide legged jeans and t-shirts Look 3: mix textures and wear with high-waisted silk pants Look 4: create a whimsical look and wear over a flowing dress Look 5: add a little sex appeal and wear with an A-line leather skirt. When you have trouble making a decision about whether or not you should buy an item, make a list in your mind or write it down. Put the item on hold so that you know you can always can come back and buy it. Then, when the pressure is off, look into your closet. Is the item compatible?
