Last week, I attended the award ceremony for Miss Vietnam Texas. The evening was put together in honor of the top five contestants from the pageant.
I’ve been on a major pearl kick lately and my new favorite way to wear pearl necklaces is really simple. For me, pearls are fun and classic yet they can look really dramatic. For this look, all you need are two long strands of pearls. Just loop them in together and there you have it. Something simple yet dramatic.

My friend Oanh is wearing another Aodai that was designed by her. Her Aodai is made out of 4 Hermes scarves. I would love to have something like this for myself. She is brilliant. What a great idea!!!

Return of the Horse

Hello everyone!!! Do you own a brooch? Or even a few? Are they in your jewelry box just sitting around? Don’t just let them waste away waiting for the trench to come back! Wear them! I have to say that no one can wear a brooch better than Daphne Guinness. She often has 4 to 6 of them on at a time and they look impeccable with the way she styles herself.

I love a good brooch. I wish I could afford one with precious stones. I would choose one inlaid with diamonds and jade. That would be my dream piece to have. But for now, I like to collect vintage. Not only is a vintage brooch more affordable, it is also unique. They are wonderful to wear over furs and scarves, or pinned on a loose jersey dress to give it shape or help it drape better. I found my pin at a local antique shop. eBay and etsy.com are also great sources for vintage pins/brooches .

Eurostorm

I’m so happy to share this with you all! I was honored to be a part of a wonderful team for a styling project. The shoot was for a book called Eurostorm by Payne Harrison and it was a New York Times Bestseller. Those are real helicopters, actually flying in the air. We had a whole team in the air and on the ground. It was a two day shoot filled with both lots of fun and hard work. I’m thrilled the images turned out beautifully! Nothing beats wonderful team work!! Here are a few photos from the shoot. Hope you all enjoy them! xo NINI

A Pop of Red

January 24th, 2012 12 comments

Happy Lunar New Year. This is a year of the water dragon. The Dragon is a beautiful creature, colorful and flamboyant. They are powerful and fearless, self-assured and brave.  I hope this year will bring you all the success that you are wishing for, with great health, more power and self confidence. If you want to find out about your zodiac sign you can go here to look at it. It is organized by the year you born. I looked at mine and it said that black and white are my lucky colors for 2012. Lucky me. 60% of my closet consists of black and white!

I love pairing black and white together. It’s one ensemble that I will never  tire of. Its powerful, effortless, classic and fresh. And all you need to wear with this classic combo is some fabulous jewelry and great shoes. I make my black and white pop with red because wearing red on New Years is supposed to bring you luck.

Note: if you are bottom heavy and have a small waist try to stay away from white bottoms with black tops because that will accentuate that area even more. Try black bottoms and white tops instead because a white top will always show off your curves and black is always slimming. Black will make you look taller as well.

This is what I wore to work today. I was feeling chic in the classic black and white with a pop of color. Loc and I did this shoot in two minutes, we have to run away from the big rain :-) enjoy!! xoxo NINI

Leather on Leather

January 22nd, 2012 23 comments

Hello everyone!!! The weather in Dallas has been extremely nice for the last few days. It feels like Spring with a soft breeze in the air and a beautiful blue sky. I took advantage of the weather to pull out my leather shorts. I want to feel comfortable and still look chic when I’m out to lunch. Some lunch dates just don’t call for my 5″ heels. And this leather on leather outfit is just perfect for that type of day: warm but not hot, busy but not formal. I’ve wore this leather top more than 50 times already. It is lightweight and feels amazing next to the skin.

I always love a good top that can be worn by itself or with a great belt. Since the shorts & top have volume, if I don’t belt the top this outfit would look really sloppy. The belt helps bring out the shape of the waist and helps balance out the look. By the way, I’m offering $150 off on this top from 01/22 – 01/27 for Lunar New Year celebration. ( purchase the top here )

What changes are you making in your make-up for the season? I just picked up a lipstick by MAC called Vegas Volt and I’m loving it. It’s a shade of coral/pink. Hope everyone is having a fabulous day and happy Lunar New Year!! xoxo NINI
