My Inspiration, My Muse – Carine Roitfeld

April 7th, 2009

You see her sitting in the front row of every important fashion show, always looking over-the-top, always dressed impeccably. Her hair falling straight forward, she is instantly recognizable with the dark smoky eyes, the heavy eyebrows and the mysterious glance. She is the best dressed woman in the world today. Her powerful style has everyone admiring and following.

Yes, I’m talking about Carine Roitfeld…editor of French Vogue.

In every detail of her life, she has immaculate taste and she is beyond unconventional in her thinking. In the modern world, it is difficult to find stylish women who truly have a voice of their own like Carine. To her fashion is like a language. Some are born with it, some learn it and some will never be able to speak it. She has her own style and plays by her own rules. Not only do I admire her style, I also love her straight forward attitude. Her fashion advice for normal women with a restricted budget is to “buy mainly classic pieces and a new pair of shoes each season. A Burberry trench-coat is always  beautiful. Maybe you change the belt and this season you put an Indian scarf. This is my specialty. Simple things to make it happen, to make it different.”

I admire her, and not to sound too much like her cnn documentary, but more so despite her success, she really does seem very down to earth and to have kept her family together. she’s incredible. and of course i envy that she probably has tom ford on speed dial.

OMG! Don’t you just love that goat hair white coat she’s wearing! I just bought a faux goat piece because of her! I think Emanuelle Alt has the same one in black too. Today we featured Emanuelle and her assistant Geraldine. Love those Paris women! http://www.heightsoffashion.typepad.com

I’m back at school already–so sad that vacay is over :( Oh well. Gotta make a living.

Great blog! I just discovered it through Brook & Lyn. I see you’re in Dallas (?)–I just recently relocated here and would love some tips on where to go/shop etc.

By the way, your outfits during your time in NY are beyond lovely–especially the CdG collar on Hahn. LOVE IT.

She has such incredible style; it’s so simple, effortless, and yet totally beyond us ordinary folk lol. The best thing about her is that she seems so warm and approachable, unlike another famous Vogue editor…
