My Top Two

October 5th, 2009

Hi everyone –

Thanks for all the sweet comments on my previous post. Hopefully Loc and I can get together tomorrow to work on some photos for the new entry.

Paris Fashion Week is going on right now and I’m  so excited to
see all the beautiful things that are coming out for Spring 2010.

If you have not seen them, you MUST check out the shows on style.com. So far Maison Martin Margiela and Ann D are my favorite. I feel like Margiela has never dissapointed his audience. His collections are unpredictable compared to
other designers and fashion houses. He always takes the road less traveled and the work is
always so innovative. I also love the seductively masculine silhouettes at the Ann D show. Those chains and the long
skirts are divine. I’m also really anxious to see what’s coming out for Louis Vuitton for Spring 2010 as they scheduled to show the collection on October 7th.

Nini I am a big fan of MMM too but the dress with tropical photo prints are beyond my understanding -_____- and do you agree to Sarah Mower’s comments:

“What was sent out for Spring was such a stuttering, ill-sequenced pastiche of the rigorous, witty, avant-garde thinking that used to stream out here that it is almost unkind to enumerate the ways in which it disappointed” and “tropical-scene photo prints—they looked like a genuinely bad-taste echo of Miuccia Prada’s deliberately kitsch prints of the same sort of subject matter”

I need someone to comfort me after I read such criticism towards my fav. designer lol

    have a nice day

    xoxo,
    Patrick :)

I love the leather combo! I am on a mission to find a leather tube dress (a la Angelina Jolie) or leather skirt that will fit me.

    Thanks for the pics!

    Good Morning, sweetheart Nini!

I´m so excited about Chloe´s new collection. How fabulous are Ann D.´s lace shoes/heels/ booties… and I could buy every single pair of Balenciaga shoes shown on the runway;)

    Have a fabulous week ahead!!!!

Hey Nini, those two collections are ones that got my attention, for sure. I love the new streamlined silhouette at Ann D., but Margiela does have me feeling quite conflicted. I loved it at first, but then questioned exactly WHY I did…came to the conclusion that it seemed to refer back to itself quite a lot. Margiela doesn’t seem to be moving forward as much as I like, there are lots of elements that have been prevalent in the past few seasons. That said, the formula works so well!

Guys Margiela himself hasn’t been designing at the Maison for awhile and this collection has made it more evident than ever. I hope he keeps designing as I would love to keep following his work elsewhere but I will definitely not be following MMM (rumours say it will be exclusively called “Maison” now that the man is officially gone).

i adore every piece of MMM collection.
if only i have lots of money, i will have no doubt
to buy any of these collection.
    they just so fabulous!

i prefer to look at the collections during their actual seasons. i really just see the spring runways through the blogs. i think i’ll start checking style.com for this fall season’s shows. also like jj said margiela the man isnt designing @ MMM anymore.

so far i really like the proportions at ann D. it is one of my favorite silhouettes.
