NiniChic: Ankle Boot Angle

December 17th, 2009

I  know that many of you fashionistas out there already know how to wear ankle boots, but I still get a lot of questions from my clients and readers about how to wear ankle boots and what to wear them with.
I love ankle boots and I wear them with everything in my closet. I have worn my YSL and my Givenchy  ankle boots a thousand times and am thinking about getting another pair. A shoe that you can wear with every outfit is more important to a wardrobe than a fancy shoe you can only wear with certain outfits.
If you are tall, you can wear ankle boots with everything. For those around 5’1 (give or take a few inches) you have got to be careful about what you wear with ankle boots because they can chop off the bottom of your legs and make you look shorter. When you wear ankle boots with a skirt or dress, go for tights in the same shade as your shoe to elongate your legs.

Ankle boots look great with dresses, skirts, tunics and skinny jeans tucked into the boots. Don’t let your jeans bunch up at the bottom where the pant meets the shoe to avoid looking messy and make sure that your leggings and pants are tucked in to create one long line. Stick to one color for shoe and tights and you are set!

I’m sorry for running behind on photos. Loc has been really with work.  My friend, Hunter, helps me with these photos. Thanks Hunter :-)

I agree ankle boots are amazing!! I am short and another great tip is to get short ankle boots or shoe-boots which elongate the leg more. Love the outfit very glam! Have a great week xx

Oh how gorgeous this outfit is!
I’m in love with your vintage fur! <3 <3 <3
That YSL jumpsuit is great – very versatile – you could wear it casual and more chic with only black items like you did. GREAT!
Wishing you a pleasant day – and please say Hello to Loc!!
    much love, s.

I’m within the scary 5’3 and under range so I’m always wary that ankle boots make me look short. You always wear them with pants so well! Still playing with that combo and trying to make it work for me.

  25. December 17th, 2009 at 14:52 | #25

You are totally rockin’ those sunnies!!

Ankle boots are hard to wear. I have a pair of CL ankle boots, and although I don’t think they make me look short however I don’t think they make me look taller They look good with mini skirts or dresses, however I always end up changing into my normal classic pumps/shoes:).

Recently I’ve read on redcarpet-fashionaward.com, the blogger made the same comments about how ankle boots make your legs look shorter…I so agree and not that we need to abandon the fab ankle boots…I guess I am not a big fan of them because I’m not super tall and I only want to wear things to make me look taller:)…..I see lots of bloggers are sooooooooooo into ankle boots and most of them have very similiar urban and edgy styles…their styles are almost always so predictable. I am always will always be a fan of beautiful classic fashion/styles:).

you look so glamorous! love the booties, they’re sky high; the taller the better :)

I want to love this post but there is something so contrived about intentionally carrying around a Starbucks coffee cup! I want the age of the Olsen imitations to please come to an end.

Here, in Estonia, are snowing and the ground is white. So big snowmountains and so on. The best thing is, that trees are fabolous! The ice is on thei leafs, and it is so beautiful. Yesterday night, the temperature was -17(Celsius), so this is freezing and every day is like a night, but the snow glows..

Greeting from Estonia, you look gorgeous!
