Welcome To Nini’s Closet

April 15th, 2010 Nini 34 comments

We have an extra room at home and I decided to decorate it and turn it into my closet. I wanted to do something modern, clean and chic. I decorate my closet just like the ways I dress. I mix low-end, high-end and a few antique pieces. I balanced out my budget and put more money toward investment pieces such as the chandelier, the ivory cowhide pillows (from Barneys New York) and the zebra rug. Those pieces I plan to keep forever!

All the photos on the wall are from my previous photoshoots with Loc.

We found an antique chair at White Elephant and the chair was ivory with brown suede.  We painted the chair turquoise for a pop of color in the room since everything else is white and black.

This little brown box is from TJ Max’s Home Goods. It’s great for storage. I paid $39.99 for it. The floor mirror is also from TJ Max’s Home Goods. They have fantastic furniture and decorative things for such a great price. I looked at Z Gallerie where they have items similar to this but they cost 4X more.

I made the drapes. I bought 2 panels of silk dupioni and each was 3 yards long. I sewed them up and saved some money. When making draping for the window you want to pick out a fabric that has a nice body to it. Silk taffeta is another great choice for draping. Stay away from slinky fabric that will create static and stick to the glass.

Some of my all time favorite shoes: front row from left to right: Fendi, YSL, Christian Louboutin, Christian Louboutin, and black python bloddy mary Christian Louboutin

2nd row: Satin Fendi with bows, Givenchy booties, Fendi pony hair booties, and YSL black patent pumps.

My favorite place to get orchids is Home Depot. The price is good and within 1 year if your orchid dies you can exchange it for something else. Got to love that :-) Mirror table from Target for $89.99

The disco crystal chandelier is from Neiman Marcus’s Horchow Finale. I got it for 50% off. It was a great find for me. This beautiful zebra rug is from an Antique store here in Dallas called “Lost & Found” where they have the most beautiful antique pieces.

I hope you enjoy this post and all the rest that are to come. xoxo Nini

White Elephant:

Loc took a day off to go furniture shopping with me. We went to White elephant, one of the best antiques furniture collection  in downtown Dallas. The store is so big and have many different vendors and if you see anything you like they can work on the prices with you as well. I’m finishing up on Loc’s living room and planning to come back there again to get things for Loc’s bedroom.  When it come to furniture shopping, I have a similar taste with my fashion shopping.  It means that I love to mix 19th century pieces with modern pieces just like mixing high-end and low-end clothes. I hope you guys enjoy the photos and I’ll keep you all posted when I’m done with Loc’s home. :)

Feeling Green

July 23rd, 2009 Nini 47 comments

Today is my day off and I’m running around Designing District to get things done for Loc’s home. Since it’s like 105F outside I thought to put on something comfortable and easy that I can walk and carry heavy things.  This little green vintage jumpsuits is perfect!

Since Loc don’t have much time to take care his atrium garden I put in Sago Palm which is very  easy to  maintain & one of  Loc’s favorite flowers is hibiscus.

Orchid before & after:

Orchid is a little hard to take care of. The ways I decorate  it is to keep the orchid in it’s own pot. Then I put it in a container  that will fit  then add it with green moss around it. Anytime you need to water it just take it out and give it 2 ice cubes.  Put the orchid in a location  where it can receives natural sunlight. The location shouldn’t be too hot. If you put  it  by the  window and  direct sunlight, then it would be too hot, particularly during the summer.  I would move the orchid to a nearby table or counter where it can receive indirect light.  This is a hard subject for Loc to take care so I’ll help him keep an eyes on this baby.

I put two lucite chairs by the atrium window to achieve a modern look.  The reason why I chose the lucite chair is that I am still able to enjoy the atrium while it is there because I see through it.

Happy sunny summer to everyone !!!! xoxox Nini
